On July 29, 2015, Kaya, the first born Humboldt Penguin in the country celebrated its first birthday which took place at the Manila Ocean Park’s Trails to Antarctica. Manila Ocean Park team prepared a three-layer frozen fish cake to be gobbled by the colony of Humboldt penguins.
Kaya’s first birthday celebration aims to promote awareness and contribute towards the conservation of penguins and highlights the Manila Ocean Park’s unique penguin breeding program. Proven and efficient husbandry practices contributed to the success of the breeding program.
Apart from humboldt penguins, Manila Ocean Park also breeds sharks, rays, and jellyfishes.
